Dinwiddie’s Marshall Discusses Favorites

Dinwiddie (VA) defensive line prospect Corey Marshall is holding steady with eight official scholarship offers, but interest from other schools continues to trickle in. The 6-1, 255-pound junior, one of the top defensive prospects in the state’s 2011 class, says the University of Miami is one of the more recent schools to express interest.

“I’m receiving interest from the Hurricanes,” Marshall said. “I have not spoken to a coach, but they are starting to send me handwritten letters and things like that.”

East Carolina, JMU, Michigan, Richmond, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia make up Marshall’s list of offers. Virginia Tech has been the favorite for some time and this remains the case, though the Dinwiddie star says other schools have caught his attention as well.

“It’s a pack race at this point,” he said. “Virginia Tech is a great school. They have been the favorite for a while, but when you take visits the pool opens up. It is more cluttered. Virginia Tech was the clear cut favorite, but after going on other visits I have a different opinion about the situation. Virginia Tech is good, but there is also UVa, Michigan and West Virginia.”
