FBS Programs In Hot Pursuit Of MacLain

In February, Eric MacLain backed away from the verbal commitment he gave to the University of Tennessee in October of 2008. MacLain, a 6-5, 240-pound junior tight end/defensive lineman prospect out of Jack Britt High School (Fayetteville, N.C.), is back in play and considering 14 FBS scholarship offers.

“The thing that stands out to me about him is how mature he is,” Jack Britt head coach Richard Bailey said of MacLain. “He looks the part, of course. He has since he was 14. He was an early developer. He is 6-5 and he has really worked on his body. He’s a good 240 pounds. He was 275 pounds as a freshman and sophomore, more of a right tackle than tight end. He is now more athletic. He has improved his feet. He has great hands. Eric could play multiple positions on the next level. He is a high character kid. He carries a 4.0 GPA.”

With a 4.0 GPA, MacLain obviously works hard in the classroom. And reshaping his body from 275 to 240 pounds shows a great work ethic on the athletic front as well.

“As I’ve grown up, I’ve gone the extra mile to be better prepared for whatever I do,” said MacLain, whose father is a Trauma Nurse in the Air Force and mother is a RN in a Labor & Delivery Unit. His father, Michael, was a Division 2 football All-American at Manchester College in Indiana.
