Delaney Declares for NBA Draft, but Will Not Hire Agent

Virginia Tech announced this afternoon in a press release that guard Malcolm Delaney has declared for the NBA Draft. Delaney will not hire an agent, which will leave him eligible to return to college basketball next season. He has until May 8th to withdraw his name from draft consideration.

Delaney led the ACC in scoring this season at 20.2 points per game, ahead of Maryland’s Greivis Vasquez (19.6 ppg). Delaney was a unanimous first-team All-ACC choice, a fourth team All-American by Sporting News and an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press.

“I decided to put my name into the NBA Draft to explore all of my options in order to better achieve my goal of getting to the next level,” Delaney said in the press release. “It has always been my dream to play in the NBA and I believe this will give me the opportunity to learn more about the process. I will be able to get feedback from various people, including NBA scouts and NBA general managers and get my name out there.”
