Coaches, Environment Stand Out To Turner

The only junior day event Harrisonburg (VA) offensive tackle Landon Turner has been able to attend so far is Virginia Tech’s, which of course occurred this past weekend. The 6-6, 300-pound Group AA all-state standout listed Tech and UNC at the top of his list before the weekend. He reflected on Saturday’s experience and answered whether or not his list has changed as a result.

Turner visited Tech last fall for the Nebraska football game. Of the return visit, he said, “I was hoping to see more of the campus, which was the biggest thing. We got there a little early to do that. The whole trip was really great. It was better than expected.”

For Turner, the highlight of the junior day was talking with current players Greg Nosal and Blake DeChristopher. Through them, he learned more about the relationship the offensive linemen have with coach Curt Newsome.

“It is a real family environment there,” Turner said. “That blew my mind. The relationship between Newsome and the players is great.”
