Bayside Jr. CB Earns 8th FBS Offer

Bayside (Virginia Beach, VA) speedster Demetrious Nicholson is becoming one of the most highly recruited juniors in the state. The 5-9, 165-pound prospect, a first-team all-Beach district selection at cornerback and wide receiver and first-team all-Tidewater selection on defense, has the potential to be a lockdown cornerback on the college level. He has received eight FBS scholarship offers so far, with the most recent one coming yesterday.

“UVa sent an offer [yesterday],” Nicholson said. “Another new one is Maryland. I haven’t received an official letter from Maryland yet, but I received an e-mail recently saying congratulations on being offered.”

Nicholson attended camps at UNC and Virginia Tech last summer and would eventually earn official offers from both programs. UNC was the first to officially offer last fall and has been followed by Duke, Maryland, N.C. State, Stanford, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Nicholson discussed the most recent offer.

“I talked to UVa’s new assistant coach named [Chip] West. He told me he used to coach at ODU. He seemed real nice,” Nicholson said. “He’s from around this area. He used to coach at Kecoughtan High School. He seemed like a good fit for me, but I don’ t know much about the rest of the new staff.”
