Rhodes Updates Status

DeAntre Rhodes appreciates the experience he has had at Hargrave Military Academy, but he doesn’t want to return to the Chatham (VA) school next month. The 6-3 1/2, 270-pound defensive lineman awaits his latest standardized test results, hoping either the SAT or ACT score will be enough to gain enrollment at Virginia Tech in January.

A star 2009 class prospect, Rhodes signed with the Hokies but fell short of meeting qualifying standards out of Varina (VA).

“I have two tests coming back. One is supposed to come back this coming week and the other the week after,” said Rhodes, referring to the SAT and ACT. “If I qualify on one of them using the GPA I had out of Varina, I’ll be at Tech in January. If I don’t, I’ll have to take final exams at Hargrave for those classes to count.”

Rhodes says the Hargrave final exams would take place the second week in January. Once those courses are completed, he would have to see if those grades helped push his GPA to where it needs to be to match his current highest SAT or ACT score on the qualifying scale. If Rhodes needs to use those courses and qualifies that way, he is not sure if he would be able to enroll at Tech in January or if he’d have to wait until the summer.
