Kempsville (Virginia Beach, VA) junior linebacker/running back Travis Hughes made the trek to Blacksburg last Saturday, taking in his first ever game at Virginia Tech. The 6-1, 215-pound prospect, who has taken in games at Maryland, North Carolina and N.C. State this fall, left impressed with Tech’s game atmosphere in the convincing win over N.C. State.

“It was fun. The atmosphere was amazing,” Hughes said. “The fans and everything were electrifying the stadium. It was like SEC football to me. It was fun. I had a blast. I brought other players from my team. They all had a blast. [Menchville H.S. junior athlete] Clifton Richardson was up there. I talked to Lyndell Gibson, who was a linebacker from Salem (Virginia Beach). He loves it there. He was talking to me about how the school loves football. He said if I want the best coaches, players, the situation to play football at a higher level, Virginia Tech is the best place to go.”

Hughes added, “Virginia Tech was a great experience for me. It was everything I thought it would be.”
