Laurence Gibson ‘s recruiting card

Defensive back Theron Norman and defensive lineman DeAntre Rhodes are currently the only two recruits Virginia Tech has at Hargrave Military Academy, but head coach Frank Beamer and company hope to add another. The Hokies have offered 6-6, 300-pound offensive tackle Laurence Gibson . Gibson, an inexperienced but talented offensive line prospect out of Sierra Vista, Arizona, is currently considering seven scholarship offers.

As a senior last season at Buena High School, Gibson earned second-team all-5A Southern-I region honors as a defensive lineman. He also played offensive tackle for the first time in his career.

“When I was a junior, I played defensive end,” recalled Gibson, who entered his high school career as a 6-0, 150-pound freshman. “When I was a senior, I played offensive tackle and defensive end. I ended up going to the [Offense-Defense All-American Bowl] and playing tackle. I think I was about 250 pounds then. From that time until I got to Hargrave, I added 40 pounds. Coach Prunty decided to move me to tackle, which was the best thing.”
