Asked what he is most excited about in terms of playing football at Virginia Tech, Brookville (Lynchburg, VA) defensive end and Tech commitment Zack McCray said, “The fans. The number one thing right there is the fans. I’ve never found any fans like the fans at Virginia Tech. Especially this past week.”

The 6-5, 235-pound senior was indeed in attendance for Tech’s comeback win over Nebraska. The atmosphere didn’t disappoint.

“The fans were amazing,” McCray said. “When I got to Blacksburg a lot of people knew who I was, which was surreal. At the end of the game, with the long pass to Danny Coale, it was just crazy. Seeing the fans coming on the field was crazy. I was already on the field. The saving grace was that I knew where I wanted to go. The smaller recruits I was with, I lost them in the crowd.”

Alongside the other recruits in attendance, McCray entered Tech’s locker room and was able to hear Coach Frank Beamer’s post-game speech.
