First Colonial (Virginia Beach, VA) safety/linebacker prospect Nick Dew is happy to be back on the gridiron, practicing with his teammates for the 2009 season. Being out on the field is not only fun for the 6-2, 195-pound rising senior, but it’s also a nice break from the sometimes stressful recruiting process.

First and foremost, Dew is excited to be out there alongside his teammates. And he feels good things could be in store.

“I think we’re confident in all aspects,” Dew said. “We’re still tweaking some things, but overall I think we’re a pretty solid team. I think we’re a force to be reckoned with this year.”

The Patriots, which take on Landstown in the regular season opener, saw their first game action last week in a scrimmage against First Flight High School (North Carolina). Dew had a big game, especially on the offensive side of the ball, where he figures to get many more touches this season.
