Martin Makes Final Visit, Eyes Decision

Roanoke Rapids (N.C.) rising senior Kareem Martin , one of the top defensive end prospects in the East, trekked to Virginia Tech yesterday for what likely will be his last college visit before committing. The 6-6, 230-pound prospect hopes to know his college destination by the end of the month.

“This was my last visit, so now I start the process of eliminating schools and coming up with a decision,” Martin said. “Hopefully, I’ll be able to decide before our first game (on August 21st).”

Prior to the trip to Blacksburg, Martin had been to Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. He had been impressed by Tech’s football program before the visit but returned home impressed by other aspects.

“It’s a nice place,” Martin said of Virginia Tech. He spent about four-and-a-half hours there. “It has a great campus. It has great facilities. Blacksburg is a nice small town. It was a nice trip overall.
