Tyrone Garland , a 6-1, 165-pound point guard out of John Bartram High School in Philadelphia (PA), has committed to Virginia Tech. Garland, a rising senior rated a 3-star prospect by Rivals.com and Scout.com, becomes the second prospect to commit to Seth Greenberg in the 2010 class.

Garland, who also received interest from Maryland, Nevada, Rutgers and Seton Hall and Temple, among others, certainly qualifies as a scoring point guard. He averaged 28.9 points per game this past season as a junior, earning first-team all-Philadelphia Daily News honors.

Garland and 6-7, 210-pound Jarell Eddie currently make up Tech’s 2010 recruiting class. Eddie, a standout out of Cannon School (Concord, N.C.), is a top shooting guard/small forward prospect.

Stay tuned for more on Garland’s commitment on TechSideline.com, but for now you can also check out the report from the Philadelphia Inquirer, which is linked below.
