Top DE Talks Nike Camp, Visit

Roanoke Rapids (N.C.) defensive end Kareem Martin is one of the most athletic rising seniors in the Tar Heel state. Not only does he excel on the gridiron, but the 6-6, 230-pound prospect almost averaged a triple-double in basketball and is currently running track. Martin’s athleticism was on display on Sunday at the Nike Training Camp in Charlottesville.

“It was the most diverse of the camps I had been to. A lot of good athletes were up there,” Martin said. “I felt I stacked up real well. I only lost maybe one or two one-on-ones. The ones I lost were to the MVP of the camp and I actually beat him (Petersburg OL and West Virginia commit Quintin Spain) once.”

Martin turned in a successful junior season – racking up 121 tackles with five sacks – and looks for greater success as a result of participating in camps and combines.

“It’ll help out a lot because, when I go to these camps, I play against the best players in the region,” Martin said. “Playing against them really helps develop my skills, especially when I play against players who aren’t on the same level.”
