An In-State Battle for Davis?

Deep Run (Glen Allen, VA) offensive tackle Conner Davis attended the University of Virginia’s Spring Game last week, and yesterday the 6-5, 270-pound junior was in Blacksburg for Virginia Tech’s Spring Game. Davis may very well end up deciding between the two in-state programs, so these past two visits certainly were very important.

Davis was more familiar with Virginia heading into last week’s visit, but he entered the Virginia Tech trip intent on getting a better feel for the football program. Upon arriving at Tech, the strong fan turnout became obvious.

“Overall, it was a really good visit,” Davis said. “I went with my parents. As we were driving up, we started to see tailgaters. We saw a few and then we saw more and more and more. It was great to see the fan support there for just a Spring Game. I talked to recruits and I talked to my former teammate, Antone [Exum] and the coaches. I enjoyed being there and having fun.”

Throughout the day, Davis spoke with primary recruiter Jim Cavanaugh, offensive line coach Curt Newsome and head coach Frank Beamer.
