Hosley Discusses Decision; VT Offers Jr. WR

By all accounts, Atlantic Community (Delray Beach, FL) cornerback Jayron Hosley was all set to sign with the University of South Florida last Wednesday. Hosley-to-USF was the conventional wisdom, but that was before the 5-10, 172-pound senior made an official visit to Virginia Tech on the weekend of January 30th-February 1st. The Florida Class 5A first-team all-state selection kept quiet about his decision until the morning of Signing Day, when he announced he would sign with Virginia Tech.

“It was a no-brainer after the visit,” Hosley said. “My parents were pretty cool with it. I got back on Sunday and we talked it over at night. On Sunday, I knew what I wanted to do.”

Virginia Tech only came into Hosley’s recruitment in December, but it didn’t take long to gain the top prospect’s interest. Hosley had been interested in Tech since the beginning of his recruitment and the delayed interest did not have a negative impact.

“From the jump, I thought Virginia Tech would be a school I’d want to play for,” Hosley said. “After taking the visit, I knew the Virginia Tech family and the area and the people are real cool. They welcomed me there. The coach was up front with me and that is what I want to be around. Virginia Tech’s environment is what I want to be around.”
