Harris Named to All-American Teams

With the end of the college football season, All-American lists are beginning
to be released, and senior cornerback Victor “Macho” Harris is being
included on many of them. He was recently named a First Team All-American by The
Sporting News, and he was also a member of the AP’s Second Team.

Harris enjoyed the most successful season of his career in 2008, being named
First Team All-ACC after racking up 44 tackles and six interceptions on the
season. He returned two of his interceptions for touchdowns, and currently ranks
third in Virginia Tech history in career interceptions.

With the First Team nod from The Sporting News, Harris is now Virginia Tech’s
third consecutive boundary cornerback to be named a First Team All-American.
Jimmy Williams was Unanimous First Team All-American in 2005, and Brandon
Flowers was a First Team All-American by the American Football Coaches
Association. That’s an incredible streak.

Bud Foster is also working on an incredible streak. He has had at least one
All-American in 13 of his 14 seasons as Virginia Tech’s defensive coordinator or
co-defensive coordinator. The only season he didn’t have an All-American from
one of the five recognized All-American squads was 2004. However, two of his
players were honored by Sports Illustrated in 2004, which is an unrecognized
All-American team.
