Multiple sources, including an article on Scout.com, are reporting that Virginia Tech has gained a verbal commitment from 5-11, 180-pound guard Lamont “Mo Mo” Jones, a senior out of Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. Jones, who is expected to sign in the spring, is Virginia Tech’s fifth recruit of the 2009 recruiting class.

A versatile player who could play the point or the shooting guard positions, Jones is being recruited by Tech to play point guard. In eight games (and eight wins) for Oak Hill this season, he has averaged 14.4 points and five assists per contest.

A native of Harlem, New York, Jones played for Rice High School in New York as a sophomore and for American Christian (Aston, PA) his junior season before transferring to Oak Hill for his senior year. He originally committed to Louisville during his sophomore season before deciding to reopen his recruitment last spring.

Jones committed to Virginia Tech over offers from Charlotte, Cincinnati, Louisville and Seton Hall, among others.
