TechSideline.com’s fourth ranked prospect in the state of Virginia’s 2009 recruiting class is off the board. Brookville High School (Lynchburg, VA) star Logan Thomas ended his recruitment today, verbally committing to Virginia Tech just hours before Tech’s home contest against Maryland. The 6-6, 225-pound U.S. Army All-American Bowl selection chose the Hokies over four other finalists including Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest.

“We’re on the field and Logan has committed to Virginia Tech,” Brookville head coach Jeff Woody said.

Asked what put Virginia Tech over the top of about 20 other Division 1A programs that had offered, Woody said, “Virginia Tech has been a favorite all along. It has got things he has been looking for. Secretly, I think Virginia Tech has been somewhere he has been looking to be for a long time. They came through and recruited him heavily like anybody else. They told him things that he liked and he decided to commit.”

Brookville’s starting quarterback since the third game of his junior season, Thomas, a fluid athlete with terrific speed for his size, is being recruited by Tech as a wide receiver. Thomas hauled in 55 passes in his sophomore season, so he has some experience playing the position in high school.
