Friday
night will be your chance to catch the Virginia Tech basketball teams in action.
"Late Night With the Hokies" will take place in Cassell Coliseum, on
Friday, October 17 at 9pm. The event will follow the volleyball team’s match
with Wake Forest, and Tech fans will get a chance to have an early viewing of a
men’s basketball team that is projected to finish in the upper half of the ACC
yet again.
The event will last approximately one hour, and it will feature the men’s and
women’s teams. There will be a dunk contest, a three-point contest, and the
first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive free t-shirts. Both the men’s and
women’s teams will be featured on Friday night.
After the regular activities conclude, the men’s team will have a short
scrimmage. It will be Tech fans’ first opportunity to see freshmen post players
Victor Davila and Gene Swindle. Davila is expected to play a major role in
Tech’s rotation this season.
Virginia Tech returns four starters from a team that advanced to the NIT
Quarterfinals last season. Deron Washington is gone, but returning veterans such
as Malcolm Delaney, A.D. Vassallo and Jeff Allen give the Hokies hope for
another successful year.
