FSU Game Time and Network Set

Virginia Tech’s October 25th date with the Florida State Seminoles is
scheduled to kickoff at 3:30pm, and the game will be televised regionally by
ABC. It will also be available on ESPN2 in other parts of the country.

The Hokies and ‘Noles have one more game before meeting each other on October
25th. FSU takes on NC State this Thursday night, while Virginia Tech takes on
Boston College in Chestnut Hill. If both teams win this weekend, that would set
up a huge matchup in Tallahassee. Tech would be 6-1 overall and 3-0 in ACC play,
and FSU would be 5-1 overall with a 2-1 mark in conference play.

The Hokies control their own destiny in the ACC. A 7-1 or better record in
conference play will clinch a spot in the ACC Championship Game. Florida State
needs some help. They lost to Wake Forest earlier in the season, thus, the ‘Noles
need to win out and hope the Demon Deacons lose two ACC games.

Hokies-Eagles to Be Shown on ESPN2

Last week we reported that the Virginia Tech-Boston College game would be
shown on either ESPN or ESPN2. The schedules on HokieSports.com and TheACC.com
show the game as being broadcast on ESPN2 at 8pm this Saturday night.

With the Florida State game time being announced today, we now know the TV
network at kickoff time for each Tech game before November 22. Eight of those
ten games have been or will be televised by ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC.

TechSideline.com’s football schedules have been updated to show the latest
information.

Clemson’s Tommy Bowden Fired

Clemson fired head coach Tommy Bowden on Monday, just four days after losing
to Wake Forest 12-7. Clemson is 3-3 on the season with a 1-2 mark in ACC play.
Their lone ACC win came over a hapless NC State team, while their other two wins
came against 1-AA opponents The Citadel and South Carolina State. The three
teams Clemson has defeated have combined to win just one game against 1-A
competition this year.

Bowden posted a 72-45 record since he began his Clemson career in 1999. He
never had a losing record, but he never won the ACC or appeared in an ACC
Championship Game.

Clemson also fired offensive coordinator Rob Spence. Assistant head coach
Dabo Swinney will take over as interim head coach. The Tigers take on Georgia
Tech this Saturday.

UNC’s Brandon Tate Out for Season

North Carolina’s dynamic wide receiver/return specialist Brandon Tate has
been lost for the season. An MRI revealed that Tate tore his ACL and MCL during
Saturday’s 29-24 victory over Notre Dame. He was an early leading candidate to
be named ACC Offensive Player of the Year.

Tate had 16 catches for 376 yards and three touchdowns, rushed for 143 yards
and a touchdown, and returned a punt for a touchdown. Tate averaged 22.6 yards
per punt return and 27.7 yards per kick return. In short, this is a huge loss
for the Tar Heels.
