The kickoff time for Virginia Tech’s October 18 game at Boston College has
been set. The Hokies and Eagles will kickoff at 8pm, and the game will be
televised by either ESPN or ESPN2.
This will be a big game for both teams. The Hokies are 5-1 overall, and 2-0
in the ACC. They sit atop the standings in the Coastal Division, and they’d like
to be 3-0 before heading to Florida State on October 25. Boston College is 4-1
and 1-1, and starting 1-2 in ACC play would hurt their chances of repeating as
Atlantic Division champs quite a bit.
Tech is 16-1 in ACC road games since joining the conference. They will be
returning to the site of their only ACC road loss, BC’s Alumni Stadium, where
knocked off the Hokies 22-3 in 2006. It was an embarrassing, nationally
televised loss for Tech, and they don’t want a repeat this year.
Lewis Done for Season
As reported on Saturday, Virginia Tech’s starting tailback, Kenny Lewis, is
out for the season. Lewis suffered a ruptured Achilles in the third quarter of
Saturday’s game against Western Kentucky. Lewis is the second starter or
projected starter on offense to be lost to a ruptured Achilles. Wide receiver
Brandon Dillard suffered the same injury over the summer. Starting rover Davon
Morgan was lost to an ACL tear in the Nebraska game.
Lewis has rushed for 237 yards and two touchdowns on the season. He also has
six catches for 30 yards and a touchdown. He was not Tech’s primary back, but
his loss will be felt, particularly in leadership.
