Kellam (Virginia Beach, VA) senior Hunter Steward has yet to receive a scholarship offer from a Division 1A program, but film on the 6-7, 300-pound prospect should go out soon according to Knights head coach Chris DeWitt. Steward, an offensive tackle and defensive tackle, is a native Canadian whose family moved to Virginia Beach earlier this year.

“Right now, we’re still putting film together on him to send out to college coaches,” DeWitt said. “We used him a lot last week and he played almost the entire game on both sides of the ball. He blocked a field goal and did a lot of other things. But coaches are still waiting on film. Anyone who sees him says he passes the eyeball test. We may have enough film from him last week to send to coaches.”

James Madison University has offered Steward, who is drawing serious interest from a number of Division 1A programs including Virginia and Virginia Tech.

“I haven’t really pushed any film out, but schools have shown interest,” DeWitt said. “Coach Pruett from Virginia came by. UVa had a bye week and he stopped by here while he was making other stops. Coach Price from Virginia has called. Georgia has called about him. Coach Newsome from Virginia Tech likes him. He is real interested in Hunter, but he is waiting on film.”
