McCray Talks Official Offers, Recent Visits

Brookville (Lynchburg, VA) defensive end/tight end Zack McCray will be one of the most highly recruited prospects in the state of Virginia’s 2010 class. The 6-5, 235-pound prospect has enjoyed substantial success already, having raked in official scholarship offers from Connecticut, Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia just two weeks into September of his junior year.

McCray, who has been verbally offered by Boston College and Virginia and has drawn recent interest from Clemson and Michigan, is sure to land more official offers should he continue his impressive play. Brookville is 4-0 on the season and McCray has enjoyed a lot of success…success that began in the season opening win against Amherst.

“The Amherst game was a big game for me,” said McCray, who returned a fumble 70 yards for a score in the win over Amherst. “The next game, the other team ran the ball to the other side the whole game. Against Salem in our third game, I was in the backfield the whole game. I got the quarterback a whole lot and made him make bad passes. I could’ve had more sacks. Against Botetourt, I had four sacks and six quarterback hurries. I had a touchdown that was called back.”

McCray made a handful of unofficial visits over the spring and summer, taking trips to Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Over the past three weekends, he has checked out games at Virginia (against Southern Cal), Wake Forest (against Ole Miss) and Virginia Tech (against Georgia Tech). He discussed all three experiences.
