The Hokies held their final preseason scrimmage in preparation for the 2008 campaign on Friday afternoon in Lane Stadium. A couple of the true freshmen receivers made big plays in the passing game, and the r-freshmen tailbacks ran the ball with authority.

This scrimmage featured the #1 offense vs. the #2 defense, and the #2 offense vs. the #1 defense. The running game couldn’t get much going against the #1 defense, but the young wide receivers did manage to make some plays in the passing game, even against the #1 defense.

Sean Glennon recorded the first touchdown pass of all the preseason scrimmages, hitting Xavier Boyce in the corner of the end zone with just seconds remaining in the scrimmage. The play was set up by a 30 yard strike to Jarrett Boykin. That final series was the #2 offense vs. the #1 defense, and Glennon was 4-of-4 passing for 45 yards and a touchdown. It was typical Sean Glennon work in the 2-minute offense.

Both quarterbacks, as usual, got reps with the #1 offense and the #2 offense. Overall, Glennon got the better of it statistically. He was 11-of-19 for 103 yards and a touchdown. Taylor was 11-of-17 for 76 yards, with an interception. The interception was thrown while rolling to his right, back across the middle of the field. Quillie Odom picked it off.
