5-10 1/2, 198-pound Shamarko Thomas turned in a fantastic junior season performance in 2007, breaking the Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) school record for tackles in a single season with 77. A safety in high school, he was hoping to show the Tech coaches at last Saturday’s camp that he has the ability to play cornerback as well. Did he accomplish his goal?

“I think I did great,” said Thomas, who ran a hand-timed 4.4 in the 40 at Tech’s camp. “In the one-on-one drills, I think I showed the coaches I could cover.”

Following the camp, Thomas had a chance to speak with primary recruiter Curt Newsome.

“He was telling me that I have a good chance to get an offer,” Thomas said. “He said I have good coverage skills. He’ll be out at my school in about seven weeks, so he’ll get back to me then.”
