Deep Run (Glen Allen, VA) defensive back Antone Exum spent all day in Blacksburg last Friday visiting Virginia Tech. The 6-0, 210-pound rising senior had never visited Tech before, but last week’s visit appears to have met all expectations according to Deep Run head coach Greg Kendall.

“He loved it. He had a great, great time,” Kendall said. “He left home in time to watch the 6 a.m. workout. He got up before the crack of dawn to drive over there. He stayed around for the 7:30 a.m. workouts and then he met with Coach Beamer and had a really nice, long conversation with him. He appreciated the time Coach Beamer spent with him. He met with some academic people and talked about possible majors and academic support and I know he was really impressed with that. He toured the campus and the facilities. He got to see them go through workouts in the afternoon and then he drove back. He never spent the night there, but he made a full day of it.

“Antone said he was very impressed with Tech. I know he could see himself being a Hokie. He is always excited when he comes back from a visit, but I know Virginia Tech is in the group of schools he is strongly considering and I think they’ve got a good chance of being the school he chooses.”
