The Virginia Tech-East Carolina matchup has been scheduled for noon, and will be televised by ESPN. That information comes from the East Carolina official athletics site, which released the information this afternoon.
The game will be held in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on August 30, and it is the season opener for both teams. Tech knocked off East Carolina 17-7 in Lane Stadium in the first game of 2007. The Hokies went on to win the ACC and get a trip to the Orange Bowl, while ECU went 8-5 and beat Boise State in the Hawaii Bowl.
The Pirates return most of their starters from last season, and some expect them to provide the Hokies with a major test to start the season.
This is game two of a scheduled nine game series between the two schools. The Hokies have won the last six meetings.
TSL’s football schedule pages have been updated with the new information.
