Hokies Set to Play Miami on Friday

Virginia Tech’s first game in the 2008 ACC Tournament has been set. The Hokies will take on Miami, the #5 seed, on Friday at approximately 2:30pm. The Hurricanes defeated NC State 63-50 on Thursday afternoon.

The Hokies met the ‘Canes once during the regular season, with Miami winning 74-71 in Cassell Coliseum back on February 9. They are one of just three ACC teams to out-rebound the Hokies this year, beating Tech 35-20 on the boards. Jack McClinton scored 19 points for Miami, and Eddie Rios added an unexpected 14 to lead the Hurricanes to the win.

Virginia Tech lost despite 24 points from A.D. Vassallo, and 16 points from Jeff Allen. Deron Washington, suffering from the flu, had just nine points and two rebounds.

Tip-off for the game on Friday will be at 2:30pm, or 30 minutes after the UNC-Florida State game. It will be televised by Raycom in the ACC area, and ESPN2 in all other areas. Check your local listings. If the Hokies win, they will play the winner of the UNC-Florida State game in the semifinals on Saturday.
