Checking in on Oscar Smith’s Junior Class

Oscar Smith’s (Chesapeake, VA) standout junior class is highlighted by four potential Division 1A prospects. So far, head coach Rich Morgan says that two of the four prospects currently boast Division 1A scholarship offers. Leading the way is 6-0, 215-pound linebacker Jerod Askew , who tallied 126 tackles including 25 tackles for loss and 13 sacks last season.

Coach Morgan updated Askew’s recruitment.

“N.C. State, West Virginia and Maryland have offered,” Morgan said. “He went to a Maryland junior day two weekends ago. It was Jerod, Tim [Smith] and [sophomore quarterback Phillip] Sims. He is going to go to West Virginia for the spring game. He plans on going to N.C. State at some point before the summer. He is happy with the offers he has. He is going to get more, but I think he is pleased with what he has right now.”

Virginia Tech is showing interest in Askew as well as in wide receiver/defensive back Tim Smith, but neither has been offered just yet.
