Shortly after informing his head coach, Jim Prince, of his college choice, Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) star Randall Dunn received a phone call from Virginia Tech primary recruiter Curt Newsome. Newsome had just been informed by Prince that Dunn, a 6-3, 215-pound wide receiver, would be joining Tech’s 2008 recruiting class.

“It all happened in about five minutes,” Dunn reflected. “Right after I got off the phone with Coach Prince, Coach Prince called Coach Newsome. Then Coach Newsome called me. He was excited. I could barely understand what he was saying. He did reassure me that they are going to take care of me there. That is important. That is going to be my family, basically for the next four or five years.”

A number of emotions went through Dunn after he got off the phone with Coach Newsome. Relief was one. Excitement was another.

“A huge weight had been lifted,” Dunn said. “I knew where I was going to go. I also couldn’t even put it into words how happy I was. Me and my family were all smiles and hugs.”
