According to a report in the Winchester Star, 6-2, 175-pound junior point guard Erick Green has given a verbal commitment to Virginia Tech. The Millbrook (Winchester, VA) star made his decision known last night, just before his team’s 64-46 win over Handley.

According to the report, Green actually committed to the Tech coaching staff while visiting for the Maryland game earlier this month.

As a sophomore last season, Green averaged 14.1 points, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game in leading Millbrook to a 26-4 record and a regular season district title. He earned first-team all-Northwestern district honors for his performance. He is averaging 19 points per game this season including a 21-point effort in last night’s win, which gave Millbrook its 16th win on the season to just one loss. The team has a 9-0 record thus far in the Northwestern district.

Green, who joins Hidden Valley (Roanoke, VA) guard Ben Boggs in Tech’s 2009 class, chose the Hokies over offers from George Mason, James Madison and St. Joseph’s, respectively.
