Stonewall Jackson (Manassas, VA) running back Ryan Williams , one of the most coveted prospects in the state of Virginia in the 2008 recruiting class, announced his college choice today at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. With his mother and Stonewall Jackson head coach Loren Johnson by his side, the 5-10, 205-pound Williams pledged to Virginia Tech.

Possessing terrific elusiveness and big-play ability, the 4-star standout received offers from Boston College, Florida, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and many other Division 1A programs. His final decision came down to Boston College and Virginia Tech, and he made official visits to both schools before choosing the Hokies.

Williams has played on the varsity football level since his freshman year, when he racked up 800 yards rushing and 300 yards receiving. As a junior, he tallied 1,574 yards while averaging 10 yards per carry, scoring a total of 22 touchdowns. His senior year, he rushed for 867 yards and nine touchdowns despite missing three games due to an ankle sprain.

Rated TSL’s number three overall recruit in the state, Williams gives the Hokies a dynamic presence at the running back position.
