Although the main focus continues to be 2008 recruiting, the Virginia football staff is also looking ahead to the 2009 class and has sent out scholarship offers this fall. Deep Run (Glen Allen, VA) defensive end Jake Snyder , a 6-4, 235-pound prospect, was a recipient of Virginia’s latest round of offers.

“It was my first offer,” Snyder said. “It is exciting. It was good to see that Virginia cared enough to extend the offer.”

For some recruits, it does not matter if a team is the first to offer. That does not seem to be the case with Snyder.

“It definitely meant a lot to me,” Snyder said of Virginia being the first school to offer a scholarship. “Some schools, once another school offers then they figure they should, too. UVa offering first means something because they decided by themselves that I was worth it.”
