TechSideline.com’s top overall recruit in the state of Virginia’s 2008 class – Maury (Norfolk) offensive lineman Vinston Painter – made an official visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend and had a great time. The 4-star prospect rated the visit a “10” on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the best), as he enjoyed spending time with the players and attending his first Virginia Tech home game.

“I had fun with the players. It was my first time going to one of the games, which was cool,” said Painter, who added that the official visit was scheduled just last week. “The game was fun and the atmosphere was very, very exciting. I enjoyed watching the game. After the game, I just hung out with the players for the rest of the weekend.”

The 6-6, 315-pound senior was hosted by friend and former high school teammate Kam Chancellor. He also spent time with Tech freshman quarterback Tyrod Taylor and had dinner with Coach Stinespring and Coach Newsome.

“Most of the time I was with Kam [Chancellor] and some other players from my area,” Painter said. “We were just chilling. We were just hanging out.”
