Amherst (VA) ATH Peter Rose narrowed his list of schools to two – Virginia Tech and Virginia – early last month. After a month of thinking it over, the 6-1, 180-pound standout has finally reached a decision…he will attend Virginia Tech over offers from Virginia, Maryland, Syracuse, Marshall and Navy.

Rose verbally committed to the Hokies yesterday, becoming Virginia Tech’s 11th verbal commitment in the 2008 recruiting class. He becomes the second Amherst rising senior to commit to Virginia Tech, joining 6-3, 210-pound WR/LB Derrick McCoy.

“He committed yesterday. He called me last night and told me,” Peter’s mother, Mary Rose, told TechSideline.com this morning.

A dynamic quarterback in high school, Rose compiled close to 2,000 yards passing and rushing. He totaled 29 touchdowns in leading Amherst to a Group AA, Division 4 state championship title. For his junior season performance, Rose earned VHSCA second-team all-state honors at quarterback and AP second-team all-state honors at defensive back.
