The Run for 32 — Race Team and Donation Update

It’s been just 3 weeks since we launched “The Run For 32” and a lot has happened in a short period of time.
Here is some of the exciting news surrounding our efforts.

  1. “The Run For 32” has been recognized by Elite Racing as an official charity of the SunTrust Rock ‘n’
Roll Half-Marathon in Virginia Beach. Elite Racing, which manages these events all over the country, bestows this
designation on a few select charitable organizations. A few you may recognize are “Team In Training,”
which raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and “Team Hoyt,” a father who runs with his son
who is a spastic quadriplegic and suffers from cerebral palsy. It’s an honor to be recognized as an official charity
training program for this event, especially an event that is held in the state of Virginia. It also gives additional
promotional coverage for “The Run For 32” and should impact our ability to raise money for the “Hokie
    Spirit Memorial Fund.”

  2. To date, the race team has 43 members, and we have raised $6725.00. This is an amazing display of generosity and
commitment in our efforts to honor 32 people. On behalf of everyone involved with “The Run For 32,” thank
you for making our early efforts a success. We still have a long way to go (10 weeks) until we run, so we have time
left to raise more donations for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.

  3. “The Run For 32” is working with the Virginia Tech Alumni Association’s Tidewater chapter on a game
watching party in Virginia Beach on Saturday, September 1st for all those that can’t make it to the game vs. East
Carolina in Blacksburg. It will be a great way to join the race team and fellow Hokies to root Tech on to victory
during the first game of the 2007 season. Stay tuned as we will be releasing that information as we get closer to
    game day.

  4. Most important, we are still accepting members for our race team and there is still time to get race ready.
Remember, you can run, walk or walk/run the event. If you are already registered for the race, join the team today!
If not, you may register for the race and join the team by contacting me at [email protected].
