The 2006 Beach district Defensive Player of the Year plans to sign a letter of intent with Virginia Tech in February of 2008. Today, Salem (Virginia Beach, VA) star LB Lyndell Gibson pledged his verbal commitment to the Hokies.

“Yes, sir,” Gibson replied when asked if he had committed to Virginia Tech. “I told [the Virginia Tech coaches] yesterday, but I talked it over with my coaches today and it became official.”

Gibson very much enjoyed his Virginia Tech camp experience this past Saturday. It was an experience that solidified his decision.

“I was thinking about committing [at the camp],” Gibson said. “I was wondering if I should do it. I just took a few days to think it over. I decided to go ahead and do it. Now, I can just focus on my grades and playing football. It is like a burden has been lifted.”
