Camp Report: Virginia Tech Offers Hamlette

Once rising senior Isaiah Hamlette participated in college camps, Brooke Point (Stafford, VA) head coach Jeff Berry felt the athletic defensive end would score scholarship offers. Coach Berry’s belief proved true, as the 6-3 1/2, 250-pound prospect landed a scholarship offer from Virginia Tech following an impressive camp performance on Saturday.

“I did get an offer after the camp on Saturday,” Hamlette said. “After the camp was closing down, Coach Foster pulled me aside. He said I did real good and that they decided to offer me. Then me and my parents went to Coach Beamer’s office. He told us what he expected out of a player. Then he showed us some stuff around his office. It was real nice.”

The camp was Hamlette’s second visit to Virginia Tech this spring. He visited before for a spring practice and met 2007 class recruit Tyrod Taylor while on the trip. He reflected on his Saturday’s experience.

“It was a great experience,” said Hamlette, who attended the camp with his parents. They toured the campus and the football facilities.
