6-6, 260-pound junior Michael Via received an important call last night from Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer. Tech’s head coach called to extend the Northeast Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.) offensive tackle a scholarship offer, and the talented recruit was certainly pleased.

“It’s pretty exciting,” Via said of his Virginia Tech offer.

Prior to last night’s scholarship offer, the Virginia Tech staff had expressed serious interest. Primary recruiter Mike O’Cain had visited Northeast Guilford on two occasions, so Via felt something could be coming. He didn’t want to speculate, though, and was looking towards Tech’s June 9th camp as a chance to show his talents.

Though he did not name a clear favorite, Via has had interest in Virginia Tech for quite some time.
