Blue Hoping for Virginia Tech Offer

Gaston Gazette Area Player of the Year last season as a junior, 6-1, 200-pound quarterback/athlete A.J. Blue still awaits his first Division 1A scholarship offer. The North Gaston (Dallas, N.C.) junior hopes an offer could come soon and he is looking for one school in particular.

“If I get Virginia Tech at any time, I’d definitely commit then,” Blue said. “If I don’t, I guess I could wait. I want Virginia Tech to offer. I guess until then, I’ll wait.

“Right now, I get letters from the [Virginia Tech coaches] every now and then. Just the camp letters and things like that…the stuff they send to everybody.”

A dual-threat quarterback, Blue, who has been North Gaston’s starting quarterback each of the past two seasons, tallied 1,800 yards passing and 1,300 yards rushing last season. He scored a total of 43 touchdowns. A former Virginia Tech dual-threat signal caller is one of the main reasons why Blue likes the Hokies so much.
