Halifax County (South Boston, VA) junior Allen Stephens is doing well in varsity baseball, batting around .375. But football is the future for the 6-1, 240-pound linebacker prospect, and he has an idea of when he will decide where he will play on the next level.

“Probably during the summer,” Stephens replied when asked when he may make a commitment.

Maryland, Virginia Tech and West Virginia have offered scholarships. UNC is among the other programs showing serious interest. Right now, though, Stephens favors the Hokies and the Mountaineers.

“West Virginia is an overall good team,” Stephens said. “Virginia Tech is a really good defensive team. Their defensive coach has been coach of the year. And, it’s close to home.”
