6-2, 190-pound Smithfield (VA) star Dyrell Roberts liked what he saw at Virginia’s spring game over the weekend, and it might not be for the reasons you think. One of the top athletes in the state of Virginia, Roberts has now visited UVa on four occasions. He plans to visit Virginia Tech for the first time this Saturday.

Roberts made the most recent trip to Charlottesville with his head coach, Chris Fraser, and teammate Antonio Akinson.

“It was good,” Roberts said of UVa’s spring game. “I had a good time. The coaches told me I would have a good chance of playing as a true freshman. I know they were only running a little bit of what they will run during the season, but it does seem like they have a need at wide receiver – no disrespect to the players already there, but I think I could compete for playing time in my first year.”
