6-0, 200-pound Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA) star junior Kerry Boykins , a first-team all-state performer last season, claims to have “10 to 12 offers” in the fold. We caught up with the talented athlete – a wide receiver, safety and return man for Oscar Smith – to discuss future visits, a possible timetable on a college decision and his recent performance at a Nike combine.

Things have been going well for Boykins, who expects at least one more offer in the near future. He is also drawing serious interest from the University of Florida, among others.

“I think Northern Illinois might be coming in with an offer soon,” Boykins said. “Coach [Chris] Beatty just went there from Hampton. I know I have offers from Clemson, Connecticut, East Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech and UNC.”

The only program Boykins has visited is Maryland. He has visited twice – for the Miami football game last fall and for a basketball game this year. He may head back to College Park next month as part of his spring break schedule.
