FUMA’s Dowtin up to 7 Offers

In only his first year in the Fork Union Military Academy prep program, junior Marcus Dowtin had an instant impact on the gridiron on both sides of the ball. At running back, the 6-2, 205-pound prospect rushed for 1,132 yards (averaging about 8 yards per carry) and scored 15 touchdowns. A linebacker on defense, he tallied 92 tackles.

“He had a real good season for us,” Fork Union prep football head coach Mickey Sullivan said. “He was first-team [VISAA Division 1] all-state [at running back]. He was all-Prep league [at running back].

“Marcus is a really good athlete. On offense, he’s mostly a power back – a big, strong kid who is a 4.4 40 kid. He has good speed, but he needs to learn more patience. What jumps out is his ability to play defense.”

With his combination of size and athleticism, Dowtin is a versatile prospect who could play several positions on the defensive side of the ball.
