Virginia Tech’s 2007 football schedule was released on Wednesday afternoon,
and Hokies fans have an exciting set of games to look forward to. Tech opens the
season against three teams who went bowling in 2006 and closes it against top
notch ACC competition in some big rivalry games.
The 2007 football schedule will be one of the toughest in recent memory. The
Hokies will be facing off against a number of very talented teams. Here’s a look
at the official schedule.

The highlight of the out-of-conference schedule is LSU. The Hokies travel to
Baton Rouge on September 8 for one of the most appealing out-of-conference
matchups in school history. Two other out-of-conference teams, East Carolina and
Ohio, also went to a bowl game following the 2006 season.
Conference play does not begin until September 29 when the North Carolina Tar
Heels travel to Blacksburg. Tech will play two of their four ACC road games in
the month of October when they travel to Clemson and Duke.
After the Duke game, the schedule gets dicey. With back-to-back Thursday
night games against Boston College and Georgia Tech, the Hokies will be facing
the only two teams that beat them in the regular season in 2006. After Georgia
Tech, they will host back-to-back home games against Florida State and Miami,
before traveling to Charlottesville to take on Virginia on November 24.
At this point, the season finale against UVA looks to be very tough. The
Hokies, who will be coming off two brutal games with Florida State and Miami,
must go on the road to play the Cavaliers. Meanwhile, UVA has an open week on
November 17.
Overall, Virginia Tech will play eight teams that went to bowl games in 2006.
