2008 Class: In-state Offer for DT Ruff

A junior this past season, Norview (Norfolk, VA) defensive tackle/offensive tackle Klinton Ruff earned first-team all-Eastern district honors for his performance on the defensive side of the ball. Ruff, who already has one major Division 1A offer in the fold, projects as a defensive lineman on the next level, as he has the size and athleticism 1A coaches are looking for.

Currently, Klinton is our top recruit returning, Norview head coach Robert Toran said. Ruff led all of the Norview linemen in tackles and tackles-for-loss this past season. He fits the profile at 6-4, 295 pounds. Hes capable of running a sub-5.0 40. Everybody is after him as far as the defensive side of the ball. Virginia has already offered. Virginia Tech is considering offering. He gets a lot of mail from Boston College. Those are the main three right now, but Im pretty sure more schools will become interested once his tape gets out.

Ruff made great strides at defensive tackle this past season.

He has really improved on trying to get better at that particular position, Toran said. Hes getting stronger, which was probably his greatest improvement. He has always had the speed. Hes an intelligent player. He understands the game. He has become more physical. I think his best attribute is that he runs so well from [offensive] tackle to [offensive] tackle. It is not a real big deal for him to chase things down from the backside. Next season, I expect hell be a person who dominates.
