Virginia Tech had success at Halifax County High School (VA) in the 2007 class, landing a verbal commitment from speedy wide receiver Patrick Terry. The Hokies are going back to Halifax for the 2008 class in hopes of landing the star of the Comets defense.

Virginia Tech recently offered 6-1, 240-pound junior linebacker Allen Stephens.

“I talked to Coach Stinespring,” said Stephens, who has also drawn early interest from Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Penn State, UVa and West Virginia. “The first time I met him he came to see another football player at our school. The second time he came, he offered me a scholarship. They have sent me a letter saying I have a scholarship.”

Though he did not have a childhood favorite in terms of college football programs, Stephens does now have high interest in the Hokies.
