Evans Concludes Masterful Career

Warren Central’s (Indianapolis, IN) 35-14 win over Carmel in last week’s Class 5A State Championship game gave the senior class its fourth consecutive state championship. For Darren Evans , the 6-1, 212-pound All-American running back, this championship run was sweeter for a few reasons.

“It means more just cause it’s my senior year and the last game of my high school career,” Evans said of capturing another championship. “The win put us in the history books. No other team has won four times in a row. Coming in and starting as a sophomore to now, going through this is special.”

Evans finishes his high school career as one of the most productive backs in the history of state of Indiana high school football. This season, he rushed for 2,806 yards and scored 61 touchdowns (a state record). He rushed for over 2,000 yards in each of the two previous season as well.

Evans was quick to credit his teammates for his success.
