Wake Forest Game Time Still Unknown

ABC and ESPN have exercised their six day option on the Virginia Tech-Wake
Forest game on November 18. Kickoff time will now be announced this coming
Sunday, November 12, pending the results of the ACC games on November 11.

Wake Forest is currently atop the Atlantic Division with one loss, tied with
the Maryland Terrapins, who also have just one ACC loss. Wake Forest travels to
Florida State this weekend, while the Terps host Miami. The outcomes of those
games will decide television times for November 18.

The other ACC games on November 18 are Maryland at Boston College, Duke at
Georgia Tech, Miami at Virginia, NC State at UNC and Western Michigan at Florida
State.

ACC in the Top 25

There were some big games in the ACC over the weekend, including Wake Forest
vs. Boston College, and Virginia Tech at Miami. The results of those games
continued to help shake up the ACC race. After the weekend, five ACC teams find
themselves ranked in the major polls.

After their 21-14 victory over Boston College in Winston-Salem on Saturday
night, Wake Forest is the highest ranked ACC team in two of the three major
polls. The Demon Deacons travel to Florida State to play the Seminoles over the
weekend, and if they can pull that upset, they will be nice and ready to play
the Hokies on November 18.

Georgia Tech needed to beat NC State to take a step closer to clinching the
Coastal Division championship, and they did just that, knocking off the Wolfpack
31-23. The only way the Hokies can catch Georgia Tech in the Coastal Division
race is to win out, and hope the Yellow Jackets lose their last two ACC games
against UNC and Duke.

The Hokies moved up after defeating Miami 17-10 in the Orange Bowl. Virginia
Tech will take on Kent State this Saturday, and then conclude their ACC schedule
against Wake Forest and UVA.

Boston College came up short against Wake Forest when Matt Ryan’s pass was
intercepted in the end zone, but they still have a shot at the Atlantic Division
championship. They’ll need some help, but first they need to win out.

Maryland had a huge 13-12 win against Clemson in Death Valley. That puts the
Terrapins squarely in the race with Wake Forest for the Atlantic Division crown.
Maryland is ranked for the first time this season, and they host Miami on
Saturday.

Hokie Men’s Basketball Team Receives Votes in AP Poll

The Tech men’s basketball team is receiving a lot of attention in the
preseason as a sleeper team that could sneak into the NCAA tournament in March.
Apparently some members of the media would go as far as ranking the Hokies in
the top 25.

The AP Poll was released on Monday, and the Hokies have a total of eight
points in the poll. That doesn’t get them in the top 25, but it is a new sign
of respect for Virginia Tech basketball. The eight points ranks the Hokies 40th
in the poll. There is a lot of respect for the ACC in the AP rankings.

the week, including ACC previews and a Virginia Tech team preview. The Hokies
begin the season Friday night when they host Coppin State in Cassell Coliseum.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30, and the game will not be televised.
