Bud Tribbey , a 6-1, 288-pound defensive tackle recruit out of Varina High School, made an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend. Tribbey, who is trying to make a decision between Tech and Syracuse, enjoyed the experience in Blacksburg but may still not be close to making a final decision.

Tribbey was accompanied by his parents on the trip to Virginia Tech.

“When I first got there, I got a tour of the facilities and the campus,” Tribbey recalled. “I talked some to coach Wiles, but coach Cavanaugh was the main person I was with. I talked to coach Gentry, who is the conditioning coach there. After I met with those guys, I talked to coach Beamer. He was just telling me how they practice, how they treat their players and things like that.

“It was a very good visit. I had more of a comfortable feeling there. My parents are comfortable with Virginia Tech. It was a good visit compared to the [senior camp experience last month]. I never really had the opportunity to talk to the coaches one-on-one, but I did this time.”
